The AI gap

Big business has moved. Most local businesses haven't.

Not opinion. This is the New Zealand data, and it is why a clear plan beats a year of dabbling.

0%

67% of larger NZ businesses now use AI, up from 48% a year earlier. The big end of town is not waiting to see how this plays out.

Datacom State of AI Index, 2024
0%

68% of NZ small and medium businesses have no plans to even look at AI. Most of your competition has not started. That is the opening.

Spark NZ / NZIER, 2024
0%

Of the businesses that have not adopted AI, 43% say lack of expertise is the main barrier. It is not the tools holding people back. It is knowing what is worth doing.

What your plan covers

Three places AI pays off in a local business.

Every business is different. The plan looks at all three, works out which pays you back fastest, and tells you what to leave alone.

01

Win and keep customers

Get found first, follow up every enquiry fast, and wake up the customers who quietly drifted away. Revenue comes first in every plan.

Most local businesses lose money before hello: enquiries that wait too long, reviews left unanswered, a customer database sitting idle. The plan starts here because this is where the money is.

  • Where your enquiries leak, and the fastest fix
  • Getting found on Google and in AI answers
  • Reviews collected, answered, and working for you
  • Waking up the dormant customer database

Best for a builder leaking enquiries while up a ladder, an agent sitting on a database of past clients, a clinic that is hard to find.

Reply to a new enquiry within an hour and you are around seven times more likely to win it. Most businesses take far longer, or never reply at all.Source: Harvard Business Review

02

Admin that runs itself

The books, the quotes, the follow-up, the paperwork. The plan names the tools that carry the repetitive load, and what they cost a month.

Every owner has a night-and-weekend job they never signed up for. The plan works out which parts of yours a tool can carry, and which parts genuinely need you.

  • The admin worth automating first, ranked by payoff
  • Quotes and invoices that stop eating your evenings
  • Follow-up that happens without anyone remembering
  • Books and GST prep that stay current by themselves

Best for a trade doing quotes at 9pm, a practice drowning in follow-up, any owner doing the books on Sunday.

03

Numbers you can trust

Connect the systems you already use so you know which jobs and customers actually make money. Decisions from evidence, not gut feel.

Most businesses already own the answers. They are just scattered across the bank, the invoicing and the job system. The plan shows how to connect what you already pay for, so the numbers agree with the bank.

  • Which jobs and customers actually make you money
  • One picture from the systems you already use
  • Early warning when something drifts off track
  • Checks that keep the numbers honest

Best for an owner who suspects a job type loses money but cannot prove it, or whose reports never quite match the bank.

The offer

The call is free. The plan is what you pay for.

No packages, no software to sell you, no lock-in. Three steps, and you choose how far to take it.

01

Free consultation

Thirty minutes on your business. Where you are losing customers, what admin is eating your week, and whether AI is even worth it for you yet. If the answer is simple, I will just tell you.

Cost: free. Obligation: none.
02

The AI Plan

A written plan for your business: what to turn on, in what order, with named tools and real monthly costs, how to bring your staff along, and the guardrails. Yours to act on with or without me.

Fixed fee, quoted on the call before anything starts.
03

Ongoing advisory

An advisor in your corner while the plan goes in. Monthly advice as tools and staff change, or I sit on your side of the table and oversee the people doing the build. Nothing goes live without your sign-off.

How the plan stays working.

Straight answers

Questions you are probably asking.

No. The plan is written in plain language: what to turn on, what it costs, and what to leave alone. If you can read a quote, you can read an AI Plan.
The call is free. The plan is a fixed fee, quoted on the call before anything starts and sized to your business. The plan is yours to act on with or without me, so there is no lock-in.
Not Provan, and that is deliberate. You can run the plan yourself, keep me on call for advice as you go, or have me oversee an implementer on your side of the table. Because I do not sell software or builds, the recommendations only ever serve you.
Nothing goes live without your sign-off, and your data stays yours. The plan spells out which tools hold what, and the guardrails that keep it that way.
No. The plan includes how to bring your people along. The aim is the same team getting more done, with the repetitive load carried by the tools.
Rotorua is home, but the work is done remotely and I work with businesses right across New Zealand.
Even better. The plan looks at what you already have, keeps what is working, and tells you what to drop or add. Most businesses are paying for more tools than they use.

Anyone can turn on AI.

Knowing what's worth doing, and what to leave alone, is the job. A free, no-pressure call to find out what that looks like in your business.
